Scaffolding Steel Pipe
Scaffolding steel pipe usually refers to the steel pipe with a round cross-section.
Scaffold steel tube can be divided into black scaffolding tube ( without surface treatment ) and galvanized steel tube according to surface treatment.
Key Characteristics:
- Material:High-strength carbon steel, often galvanized (zinc-coated) for rust and weather protection.
- Standard Size:Common outer diameter (OD) is 48.3mm (approx. 1.9 inches).
- Wall Thickness:Usually 3.0mm or 3.2mm, with some heavier-duty types at 4.0mm.
- Types:Available as standards (verticals), ledgers (horizontals), transoms, and bracing, all fitting together in tube-and-coupler systems.
Why They're Used:
- Strength & Durability:Essential for supporting heavy loads (workers, tools, materials).
- Corrosion Resistance:Galvanization protects against rust, extending the pipe's life.
- Versatility:Can be configured into various shapes and sizes for different job needs.
- Safety:Forms the secure framework necessary for safe work at heights, meeting standards like BS1139 (British Standard).
Common Specifications:
- Diameter:3mm (Type 4 tube in BS1139).
- Wall Thickness:2mm or 4.0mm.
- Length:Often around 6 meters (20 ft) or shorter, with maximum lengths managed for safe handling (e.g., under 25kg/6m).
